    Wow factor of Marina

    GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP:

Value excellent. Brand new ship. Like a floating Boutique Hotel. Tastefully decorated. Never seemed crowded....ok maybe sea day like any other ship but there was always a deck chair available. Very clean ship. Never saw a spec of garbage. A+

WOULD YOU CRUISE THIS SHIP AGAIN:

    yes

    TELL US ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM:

Staterooms were also excellent. Closet spaced seemed small at the beginning of the cruise but it quickly became an non-issue for us. Very comfortable beds...1000 count sheets, plenty of plush towels in bathroom....actually more that 2 like other cruises. NICE. Shower stall was the #1 concern for most travellers. TOO SMALL. I am a smaller guy of 5.7 and it was just OK for me. Personally I would have got rid if the bath tub and used this space for larger shower and bigger closet space. Room stewards were excellent.

    HOW WERE THE PUBLIC SPACES:

Layout of ship great. Everything makes sense. Elevators (2 at rear) were always busy during key passenger migration, disembarkation, dinner, etc. We took the stairs often for exercise.

    TELL US ABOUT THE SERVICES:

Quality of food...better than the rest. Dinning room never busy. Always went for breakfast lunch and dinner. Wait staff overall are excellent but we had a few waiter (2-3) that just should not have been serving.Waves restaurant was really good for hamburgers and beer. Try it excellent quality. Toscana's- the Italinan restaurant was of fav. The other 3 restaurants were very good as well. Can be hard to get into, but, they are free....SPA area- Canyon Ranch. Best part of the ship for me. Entertainment- don't bother. We knew this booking the cruise. Entertainment NOT important for us so we were not disappointed. They should use lovely theatre as a movie theatre and invest in showing top films. Clientele....very few "bad apples". We were surprised at how many gay customers were on the ship. Friends of Dorothy meetings had about 12 people. Obviously experienced travellers who enjoy the "finer things in life". Certainly a 9 out of 10 experience.

    Premium Quality Ship

    GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP:

Marina is the first of two new larger ships being added to the fleet. It's a beautiful ship with lovely public areas and unusually fine cuisine. That said, I actually preferred sailing on Oceania's smaller ships as they seemed more intimate.

WOULD YOU CRUISE THIS SHIP AGAIN:

    yes

    TELL US ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM:

Size and decor of the veranda stateroom were quite good. Outstanding comfortable bed, good television system, and excellent lighting. I would concur with comment in other review that having a tiny shower stall in addition to a bathtub was a needless waste of space.

    HOW WERE THE PUBLIC SPACES:

The ship was designed with excellent flow and lots of private areas. Even in the most busy periods, indoor and outdoor, there were always places available to relax. Cleanliness was outstanding.

    TELL US ABOUT THE SERVICES:

This line shines in it's cuisine and dining options. There were four speciality restaurants, all free and all excellent. The main dining room had wonderful selections and great service. The Terrace Cafe also provided absolutely great buffet selections...in fact so good that it was often rather congested. This was the only place on the ship that I felt had flow issues during heavy usage. Waves Grill did wonderful sandwiches. There was also a great Coffee Bar which served a terrific selection of coffees and had snacks...the specialty coffees (non-alcoholic) as well as soft drinks were all free on the ship. Entertainment on the ship was mediocre...certainly nothing to compare with the splashy shows on megaships. Very well equipped spa and fitness center. On this particular cruise, I found the shore excursion selections mostly unappealing and quite expensive. I only took one and didn't care for it much.

    An Excellent Experience

    GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP:

While Oceania is not a bargain priced line, the product is well worth what is charged. Marina was put into service last year and I believe has only gotten better since then. The decor is understated elegance with nothing garish. The crew works tirelessly to keep the ship to the highest standards of cleanliness. The crew seems to genuinely enjoy working on Marina and they are friendly and engaging to a person. The atmosphere is relaxed and "country club casual" is the dress of the day. For those who like to bring their tuxes and dress up, this probably isn't your cruise lines. The age group of passengers probably averages in the early 70's or late 60's. They seem to mostly be seasoned travelers who appreciate the relaxed atmosphere as well as a ship that is definitely geared to adults rather than children.

WOULD YOU CRUISE THIS SHIP AGAIN:

    yes

    TELL US ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM:

We had a "Penthouse" cabin that was larger than most cabins we have been in. A large marble bathroom with tub and shower and a walk-in closet. Plenty of walk around space in the cabin and even a sitting area with a couch. The balcony was very spacious with two large deck chairs and a small table. The decor followed the theme of the ship with understated accents and decor. It was like a upscale hotel room rather then a cramped cabin on your typical ship. The cabin came with a butler who was trained and experienced as a butler. He took the job of assisting his charges very seriously and was totally at ease with us as gay men. This also goes for every member of the crew we came in contact with from the Captain or spa attendants.

    HOW WERE THE PUBLIC SPACES:

If you haven't figured out I REALLY like this ship. With 1200 passengers it is just the right size to have all the amenities of a larger ship with the intimacy of a smaller one. Our cabin was midships and close to the forward elevators and stairs. IT took no time at all to get the "layout" of the ship and I always made it back to the cabin without even having to a trail of bread crumbs ( a feat for me). As I said the crew works very hard to keep the ship clean. I understand that Marina was just awarded a 10 out of 10 rating for cleanliness by an International agency that not only looked at the public spaces but also the kitchens, crew quarters, laundries, storage, and engine rooms.

    TELL US ABOUT THE SERVICES:

If you like to eat well then this is the ship for you. By well I mean-lots of healthy (and not-so-healthy..or the Chocolate souffle choices), presented beautifully, with portions that were just the right size. Gluttony is not encouraged but if you must, a feast is available. Four specialty restaurants, a beautify appointed buffet restaurant(lobster, fillets, fresh shrimp etc), outside dining, private dining rooms, and a beautiful grand dining room-again more like a 4 star hotel than a ship. The food was uniformly the best of any recent cruise I have been on. The spa/fitness area is run by Canyon Ranch and is very well designed. The gym has all the latest exercise equipment, the "treatment " rooms and well appointed, the men's sauna and steam is very clean and well stocked with towels and all amenities. The massages I had were some of the best I have ever had on a ship. Even has a private deck where you can sun and have food or drinks delivered to you. The entertainment was
