    A week on the Liberty

    GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP:

Great ship with shiney bells and whistles, neon and polish. Great atrium. Nice public spaces, not too gaudy. They now have new smoking policies, but when I was on her, smoke was everywhere, in nearly every bar and in every night spot. I was unable to have a decent night life, and this is why I answer no to if I'd sail on her again. Otherwise, it was a great ship.

WOULD YOU CRUISE THIS SHIP AGAIN:

    no

    TELL US ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM:

Nice sized statemroom with exterior view over the bow 2 decks below the bridge. Loved the numerous outdoor viewing spots of ship activities coming into ports. Our first night from Miami had rough seas and we heard water slapping the bow loudly all night. You could also hear the anchor going out and other mechanical sounds, but it wasn't very bothersome. Comfortable beds and plenty of storage. Smokey hallways from smoke being allowed in inside cabins. Horrible!

    HOW WERE THE PUBLIC SPACES:

The flow was fine, numerous bars on board. Really loved the sushi happy hour daily. Formal tea was only done at sea. The art auction was impressive in how much art they had on board. Kareoke was lightly attended and had a limited selection of songs. The host seemed to think hosting was simply yelling, VACATION....YAY, YOU'RE ON VACATIONNNNN!!! I left after 2 songs. The entertainment staff were fun. LGBT meetings were daily, but during the late show, and I never say anyone attending them. They were also mostly located at the smallest bar on board. Saw few LGBTs, finally did meet some on our last night. Ship was large, so it was hard to meet people. Outdoor movies at the pool were lightly attended as well. Nice adult area in the back of the ship, including hot tub, but the ice cream was there, so there were always kids running around getting ice cream and pizza. Very clean ship.

    TELL US ABOUT THE SERVICES:

Most nights I was very impressed with the food. The wait staff were fun, but I like a bit of class, and that was lacking. Loved the fish and chips place (fried oysters!) and the lines seemed too long for some of the special items in the buffet, such as the Mexican food and sandwiches. Better if you eat at off times. Didn't use the fitness center. Complained about not enough non smoking areas on board and got a call from my cruise agent, nice. Their non smoking bars, one was the atrium, attracting the older crowd, the other was next to the casino (!?). High population of red necks/white trash. Lots of kids running around. Fun ship, maybe, but not at all classy.

Carnival is my favorite... so I am biased...Sorry!

    GENERAL IMPRESSIONS OF THE SHIP:

Real value for the buck. The same ports as others at almost 50% lower price. Also, there are only 2 ad-on charge restaurants ($25 steakhouse and $15 italian). It doesn't feel like I am being nickel & dimed. Ship just went through reno... new areas and more food options. Service has always been great onboard, not overly nosey nor snobbish. Fun evenings with comedy club added and piano sing-along bar!

WOULD YOU CRUISE THIS SHIP AGAIN:

    yes

    TELL US ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM:

Balcony cabin... perfect! Also have sailed on cat 6b Which is an outside.. chose aft corner and got a HUGE cabin. But there are only 4 of these so book them early! They are WORTH it!

    HOW WERE THE PUBLIC SPACES:

Love the flow... especially when strolling the promenade I still feel I am on a ship at sea. One side of the hallway is picture windows overlooking the sea. I hate the Cruise Line (un named here) that makes the promenade feel like I am in a mall! I don't take a cruise to feel like I am inside a mall!

    TELL US ABOUT THE SERVICES:

Carnival has always had very good food... either in the dining room or the buffet. I always remind folks that they are feeding 2-3000 people so it will never be perfect. I have been on higher end cruise lines and found very little difference in food, and at a third of the price. Carnival added a comedy club by George Lopez... very funny!
