Introducing MeetMeOnBoard.com's newest feature: Stories & Blog
(and you can share yours!)
MeetMeOnBoard, the site where gay and lesbian cruise enthusiasts connect, is proud to announce our newest feature: a blog and growing collection of s hort articles and stories about gay and lesbian cruises.
We’ve partnered with leading gay travel writer Randall Shirley to begin building a library of gay cruise-related articles and blogging, appropriately starting with Six Myths About Gay Cruises, which focuses on all-gay itineraries such as RSVP and Atlantis, and Get Out There, which tells the story of the first known gay guys to openly participate in a mainstream Royal Caribbean game show—would you believe they kissed on stage?
Want to cruise with Randall? He and his partner are part of a gay group on a Christmas cruise to Hawaii. Click here to learn how you can join them!
Randall Shirley on gay cruising:
Like many little gay boys, I desperately wanted to escape my farm-bound childhood. So every Saturday night at eight, I set sail with Captain Stubing, Julie, Gopher, Issaac, and the Love Boat gang on my own ‘course for adventure, mind on a new romance.
Of course, my fantasy was that one day I’d be sneaking into a Pacific Princess stateroom with some Hollywood hunk. But cruise ships were a long way from dad’s Idaho potato farm in the heart of Mormon country. Somehow I managed to take my first cruise at age 22—a straight cruise of the southern Caribbean on the now-sunk Carla Costa. I wasn’t out yet, and didn’t realize that I was flirted with by a hot fellow passenger the whole trip (watch for a future blog about this!). Hindsight!
Since then I’ve been on several all-gay cruises, several all straight cruises, and even an ultra-exotic cruise to see caribou and polar bears in the Arctic region.
Along the way I’ve found my share of hunks with staterooms!
I’m excited to welcome you to the MeetMeOnBoard blog and stories where we’ll regularly explore various aspects of being gay and cruising—whether it’s that knowing wink with a hottie on the Lido deck, connecting in advance with other gay cruisers, or news about the all-gay cruise industry, we’ll look at it here.
We welcome your submissions and story ideas*. Please send them to Randall@meetmeonboard.com
