Oceania Cruises yesterday announced a series of Wellness Tours Inspired by Canyon Ranch. Oceania Executive Vice President James Rodriguez announced the expanded Canyon Ranch partnership at Seatrade Cruise Global Conference 2017 in Fort Lauderdale.

Building upon Canyon Ranch SpaClub at Sea facilities on Oceania’s ships, the new series of tours will offer guests a “complete wellness getaway at sea.” The new offerings will commence in early April aboard Oceania’s Riviera and Marina vessels. The wellness tours will initially be offered in France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.

A visit to “Greek gods of wellness”?  You’ve got our attention, Oceania

“Thoughtfully inspired by the philosophies at the heart of Canyon Ranch, this exclusive tour series extends the wellness experience available on board our ships to immersive well-being explorations ashore in serene, hand-picked Mediterranean locales,” stated Bob Binder, President & CEO of Oceania Cruises. “Even for guests that have already been to these destinations, the tours represent a truly new and unique way to experience the region – and a new way to cruise.”

The new wellness tours will incorporate Canyon Ranch gourmet meals, along with Canyon Ranch wellness treatments including stone massage and detoxifying seaweed wrap, with unique wellness-focused shore excursions adapted to different ports, including:

baths

Viterbo Terme dei Papi

The Pope’s Thermal Baths | Civitavecchia, Italy – Guests will enjoy an afternoon of heavenly relaxation and restorative benefits at the Viterbo Terme dei Papi, or the Thermal Baths of the Popes. Originating in Etruscan times, the exclusive baths have a thousand-year-old therapeutic tradition that has served kings, popes and artists throughout history.

Vinyasa Yoga at Monte Carlo Bay | Monte Carlo, Monaco – Perched on a beautiful peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort offers guests a private vinyasa yoga class, a dynamic style of yoga recognized for a host of mind-body benefits.

The Greek Gods of Wellness | Corfu, Greece – Guests will have the chance to tour the vineyard and herb plantation of Ambelonas, an artisanal organic goods company and wine estate in Greece, followed by a tranquil meditation and yoga session and a plant-based lunch.

The Life of Laughter | Palamos, Spain – This tour invites guests to discover the myriad benefits of laughter, including the rush of stress-reducing endorphins released as they enjoy a joyful laughter session in a restored farmhouse-hotel in the heart of Costa Brava.

Onboard Canyon Ranch meal selections range from breakfasts such as a three egg-white omelet with seasonal vegetables and cheese to a dinner of steamed Maine lobster atop savory Castilla-La Mancha saffron rice followed by warm, fragrant chocolate cake.

Reservations for Oceania Cruises’ Wellness Tours Inspired by Canyon Ranch will open on April 1, 2017.

Our Take: Unless you’re under 30 with a miraculous metabolism, you know cruise travel demands a balancing act between culinary indulgence and compensatory calorie burning. You know the drill: decadent sea-day onboard lunch, followed by 50 vigorous minutes on the treadmill. Or an amazing gourmet dinner that blows your tastebuds and arteries – paid for the next day by a vigorous walking or cycling tour. We love the idea of a cruise line doing the balancing act for passengers by providing healthy haute cuisine, as well as other wellness activities.
