The Grand Resort & Spa: Fabulous Ft. Lauderdale Gay Guesthouse

The Grand Resort and Spa provides an oasis of luxurious relaxation in an all-gay-male environment. For Mark and I, it was exactly what we needed, providing the perfect cap to our recent cruise.

The Grand Resort and Spa entrance

As much as we enjoy cruising, we abhor the whole hurry-up-and-wait rush from ship to airport post- voyage. So we booked a one-night stay at the beautiful Grand Resort and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale. The staff welcomed us warmly, walking us through the tropical landscaping of the courtyard to our well-appointed one-bedroom suite.

One of our favorite features of the suite was its private outdoor shower.

Our favorite feature of the suite was its private outdoor shower. It felt wonderful to absorb Ft Lauderdale’s perfect weather while rinsing away our worries. Our large suite also included a kitchen and dining room, spacious living room with flat screen TV. The mini-bar was well-stocked and reasonably priced. We also appreciated the ability to set the suite’s AC level to our preferences using a remote control.

Guests of The Grand Resort and Spa can relax poolside or soak in a 10-man hot tub. The tropical plants in the courtyard area screen a clothing-optional inner courtyard. A 30-foot water fountain enhances the resort’s atmosphere of relaxation.Guests can also avail themselves of a wide range of spa services including massage, facials, scrubs and waxing. The resort also boasts a fitness facility. Plus, it’s located a short walk from the beach.

We love a good breakfast as long as we don’t have to cook! The Grand Resort and Spa offers a complimentary breakfast buffet with freshly brewed coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fresh juices, plus a wide range of breakfast foods to please both healthy eaters and those who prefer good taste to worrying about calories and fat grams. There is full catered hot breakfast during a more limited time each morning as well, and it was a cruise ship-worthy breakfast! Since we overnighted early in the week, we didn’t get to take advantage of the resort’s Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening happy hours which enable guests to mix and mingle.

From the moment we checked in until our departure, every staff member of the Grand Resort and Spa offered helpful and pleasant service.  The resort, which has also earned rave reviews from other gay travel publications, currently has a special offer : 3-night stay with a 4th night free. We recommend that MeetMeOnBoard members consider the Grand Resort and Spa–whether for a pre-or-post cruise stay or just a relaxing getaway to the Ft Lauderdale area.

From Mark: “Our gay opinions can’t be bought. We say and write exactly what we think. We’re capable of throwing shade when necessary, but when we say something good, we mean it.”
